Job Description

The Senior Staff Accountant reports to the Manager of Cost Accounting.  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, fixed assets, trial inventory, general ledger accountability, as well as financial analysis and other special projects as assigned.

 
Responsibilities
  • Exercise discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance.
  • Record fixed asset acquisitions and dispositions in the accounting system for non-gaming assets and act as back up to accountant responsible for tracking gaming assets
  • Maintain all non-gaming assets in the Fixed Asset System (FAS), which includes additions and properly tracking disposals and transfers
  • Property tax accruals, tracking, and working with consultant on filings
  • Trial inventory tracking and recording
  • Prepare journal entries and monthly account reconciliations
  • Reconcile monthly fixed asset and/or inventory subledgers to general ledger
  • Participate in monthly closing process
  • Assist with quarterly and year-end audits
  • Ensure financial information is recorded in accordance with GAAP and established Company policies and procedures
  • Continuously develop process improvements

 

 

Job Requirements

 
  • Bachelor’s degree in business preferred; or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years’ accounting experience
  • 5+ years’ cost accounting experience preferred
  • Knowledge of all accounting procedures
  • FAS or other supplemental fixed asset program
  • Navision experience a plus
  • Skilled in use of financial software packages
  • Experience in Kaizen and Workflow management
  • Ability to multi-task on various projects, work under pressure, and meet tight deadlines
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office products
  • High level of interpersonal skills with demonstrated poise, tact, and diplomacy
  • The ability to work interactively across functional groups
  • Exposure to highly analytical and challenging business issues with complex financial and operating efficiency implications
  • Strong knowledge and experience applying the use of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment
  • Familiarity with new cap lease rules a plus
