Job Description

The Industrial Designer will work closely with engineers and game designers to develop innovative and user-friendly gaming products. The designer is involved throughout the development process from initial concept and design to prototyping, testing, vendor selection, and quality assurance.  A strong focus is applied to the product aesthetics, ergonomics and overall user experience.

 

Responsibilities

The duties of this role include but are not limited to the following:

  • Create innovative and exciting concepts for both new and existing products
  • Liaison with external design firm to develop new concepts for start-of-the-art gaming products
  • Sketch ideas and create renderings to communicate design intent
  • Evaluate new concepts by creating physical prototypes
  • Define Color, Material, Finish (CMF) and Lighting for new product development
  • Create surface models using CAD tools to develop aesthetically pleasing product designs
  • Work closely with Game Development to create products that enhance game play
  • Collaborate with hardware engineers to verify designs for requirements conformance and design-for-manufacturing
  • Perform field and market research to identify trends and analyze existing products
  • Perform user tests and ergonomic studies to enhance player comfort
  • Work together with Supply Chain for coordinating prototype orders and supplier selection
  • Provide design renderings for internal sales and marketing support
  • Evaluate suppliers for design proposals related to ID development

 

Job Requirements

  • BS Industrial Design degree with a minimum of 5 years industrial design experience
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a sense of urgency
  • Product design experience with consumer and/or industrial products like casino gaming equipment such as kiosks, ATM’s, appliances, media consoles and self-check-out machines
  • SolidWorks, Rhino, or another 3D modeling program
  • Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and other programs in the Creative Suite
  • PhotoView 360, KeyShot, or another 3D rendering program
  • MS SharePoint a plus
  • Multidisciplinary teams to solve problems and create effective solutions
  • Release process of product data to manufacturing
  • Prototype manufacturing, assembly and testing
  • Testing ideas through rapid prototyping
  • Rapid prototype technologies to include but not limited to 3D printing and foam core models
  • Inspection of first-article production samples
